How many times have you checked your Facebook today? Close to 1 billion other members potentially do the same every day. So, with that many people on this social media juggernaut, the FB powers that be work around the clock to keep its integrity intact as mass marketers migrate in. So, how do you market on a site with consistently evolving spam blockers and increasing media competition? Just follow these secret strategies and make Facebook your professional marketing playground for free leads.
Your Profile
1. Set up your profile in a way that invites… not bites
This is a must-do before all else, because let’s face it. Facebook is a social network and people want to learn about YOU. You can guarantee that whomever clicks on your advertisements (which we’ll get to in a second) will click on your profile, too. So it’s always good to have a profile pic of your real face and not some avatar. And smile. Your original mug may be the best foot-in-the-door to connecting with your potential leads.
And be sure to fill out the interests and activities section showing that you are more than one-dimensional. People want to know if you do more than sit on your butt all day trying to generate leads on Facebook for chrimeny’s sake!
2. Include links on your profile to another website showcasing your skills and activities… such as Flickr, your blog, even your a capture page if it’s been personalized to you.
3. Include an opt-in box on the side bar of your profile for the product you are promoting. This can be done using certain html applications such as “Profile HTML” found within Facebook apps. Although in order for this one to be functional you need to have an email responder already set up.
4. Check your profile viewing options. You will want to make sure that at least your “friends and networks” can find you. But for full exposure, you want to check “Everyone”, so “Everyone” can see what a wonderful person you are.
The Marketing
5. Join and engage in groups pertaining to your target market. A Facebook search will reveal tons of groups for whatever keyword you choose. Once a group member, you may engage the other member discussions leaving behind a signature link and advertise your quality content (if it’s allowed in the group by-laws… which of course you read before you joined, eh?). Disclaimer: Spamming on Facebook will get your account deleted faster than you can say, “Betty better butter Brad’s bread.” three times fast.
6. Add 10-20 new friends a day until you reach 5000. Don’t worry. If you don’t know 5000 people… or even 50 people… you can request friends from the groups you joined. Look at that… you already have commonality with your new friends and your ego gets a boost as your numbers grow. (You might want to check out this cool little virtual handshake to greet your new buds and boost your ratings even more)
7. Now you have some friends. Start you own group and invite them in. You pretty much have free reign here, but the most successful groups offer true value and incentive to its members. Keep that in mind.
8. Don’t be a prude. Respond back to your friends’ messages. This not only shows your friendly and courteous personality, but every reply box includes a photo, video, and link attachment option that you can use to send pertinent information back to your new buddy.
9. Update your personal status with useful and fun information for your friends to participate in. All update boxes include the same reply attachment options mentioned above along with an event attachment in case you want to publicize the grandioso P-diddy size party you’re gonna throw for all your Facebook friends.
9 1/2. Promote your product and business in the Facebook marketplace. But first you will need to get the marketplace application, which can be found through another Facebook search. Then you can promote your wares till your heart’s content. Just be sure you use the correct category.
10. Be you. If you are serious about generating free mlm leads on Facebook, you must be someone of substance. Remember that it is social networking and people want to connect and learn about you. The name of the game is interaction; so do not be afraid to accept someone’s Mafia Wars or Farmville invitation.
Act on these 10 Facebook strategies right away and quickly start generating a consistent flow of fresh mlm leads for free that will inevitably turn into lifetime customers and friends.
