“It’s inevitable Mr. Anderson.” Sooner or later a distributor’s warm market list becomes obsolete,
and he will need to find ways to exploit his cold market. It is a hard truth that the majority in the industry will sign up few, if any, from this list. Harder still is that most of the sign-ups will not stay active in the business past the first year. But successful network marketers, I mean the ones making a full-time income at it, should attest that they find other means of raking in fresh leads for their business. So, if you are looking at network marketing as a long-term career, you will need to learn and develop your marketing skills, and in this article we’ll touch on a few free ones to get you started.
The Warm Market List Dilemma
But before we go any further, let me throw in this disclaimer: Many large organizations started from the warm market list. But this is only representative of the industry minority. The other 97% quit usually within the first year because of some business crippling problems spawned from the warm market. No one likes to be sold. Many network marketers will attest many of their friends’ and family’s hesitancy when approached by a network marketing opportunity because of the door-to-door mentality to make the next sale that drives behind it. Others simply do not like to sell. And still others, sometimes the ones closest to us, will decide to wait and how see how well the distributor fares first.
Working from the warm market list may still get you a few or more sign-ups, but the problem then lies with attrition. If we pay attention to the common stat of 97%, we will see that many new distributors just won’t work the business or they drop out altogether. This is because the warm market is not a targeted market, and it includes people with and without business savvy as well as those not previously seeking to be a product user or business owner. Or they simply run out of leads and cash flow before they get to the prized residual income.
But there are very successful network marketers that do not even start on the ground floor of their opportunity. If we study how they do it, we notice they share one common factor. If you are already in a network marketing company take a look at your top distributors. They are not still working from their warm market list. They are using methods of free and paid lead generation. Some buy leads list. Some advertise. And others sell their own training materials.
Alternative Warm Market List Ideas
But most new network marketers work on a limited budget and may not have the experience and clout to make their own training products. So, here are some marketing methods one can implement immediately for free or low cost. (Most of these use the Internet).
Join the social media movement. Sites such as Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter are free to use and can produce amazing quality leads when done right. See how this works in my Free Leads On Facebook article.
Article marketing is another free and highly effective way to generate long-term leads over and over again. Although this may take a couple of months to see results, when done right, it is by far the most effective method to producing massive amounts of leads.
PPC (Pay-per-click), list builders, and classified advertisements are paid forms of marketing and quite effective as well.
A network marketer wants nothing but to succeed in his business. He buys into the dream of a financially independent lifestyle, residual income, and having a great product to stand behind. And it can be done. But if you want to have a profitable business within or after the first year, invest in developing some other marketing skill sets to generate quality leads and go beyond your warm market list.
